Rockland Zoning Board approves fire station and three applications with conditions. The board unanimously granted a special permit and variances for the town's new 34,968-square-foot fire station headquarters at 99 Church Street, including six conditions on noise mitigation, lighting, and vehicle idling. Chair Robert C.
Rosa III also approved a land exchange finding for Aris Bega and a variance allowing a sprinklered single-family home on a retreat lot more than 350 feet from a fire hydrant, with Fire Chief Scott Duffey endorsing residential fire sprinklers as lifesaving. The board granted a Class II Wholesale Dealer's License to Mirgen Gjoka for 100 Weymouth Street with nine restrictive conditions prohibiting on-site vehicle storage, repair, or cleaning, responding to condo board concerns. The board continued discussion of a utility modification proposal for 320 Concord Street to June 16 pending peer review.
