Zoning Board approves dance studio and nursing home addition

Rockland Zoning Board grants two major permits in single hearing. The board unanimously approved a Special Permit for McKenzieann Finn's Project31 LLC dance studio at 222 Weymouth Street, conditioned on sprinkler system connection and proof of occupancy compliance, with hours of operation restricted to Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays. Chair Robert C.
Rosa presided as the board also unanimously granted a Special Permit for Webster Park Property LLC's nursing home expansion at 56-82 Webster Street, adding 12 beds to reach 122 total beds per new state regulations eliminating multi-bed rooms; the board issued a Section 6 Finding for non-conforming alteration regarding parking setback and determined the applicant's proposed 61-space parking scheme, including 19 off-site spaces across Webster Street, required no variance relief under the Webster Street Parking Overlay District. Resident Jack Egan spoke in opposition to the nursing home expansion, citing past neighbor disputes, noise, and parking violations; nursing home administrator Todd Funk responded that heating vibrations would be remedied within days and staffing increases would be minimal.
