School Committee approves summer handbook, house system presentation.
Rockland School Committee · Meeting of March 23, 2026
Rockland School Committee advances summer program and school structures. Chair Jill Maroney, members Denise Bissonnette and Emily Davidson, and Superintendent Dr. Cron unanimously approved a corrected 2026 summer handbook and the 2026/2027 district calendar, moving a November 5th professional development half-day to November 3rd.
The committee also heard a presentation on Phelps Elementary's new house system, which organizes all 650 students and more than 100 staff into color-coded groups meeting every six weeks to build community and earn points for Respect, Responsibility, Safety, and Kindness. Two new fundraisers were approved: Rockland High School softball will sell Gold Athletics products, and Rockland Daycare will operate a school store through which parents shop from 300 merchants while the daycare earns 40 percent in sales.
